HOW TO BECOME A CEO?
CEO stands for Chief Executive Officer, CEOs are considered the head of corporation and are responsible for publishing policies, giving direction in which the goals are met. With highest duties in organization, CEOs must be talented, have leadership and strategy setting. Thus in order to recruit and retain talented CEOs, organizations often offer very high salaries and benefits. According to Dragon Capital, salaries of CEOs is from 20 to 30 times compare to normal employees in Vietnam. In other developed countries like the US, this deviation is even bigger. In Bloomberg report, Ron Johnson, ex-CEOs of JC Penny got $53.3 million per year, which is 1795 times to the other employees or CEO of Starbuck got $28.9 million which is 1135 times compare to his junior. Beside salary, CEOs are brought a lot of chance to update knowledge.
This is really attractive position to people who like challenge themselves. So in order to reach this position, what we should do?

About degree level, we can state that no one was born to become a CEO without basic knowledge in Business Administration. In universities, the curriculums are designed to bring knowledge in all fields like marketing, human resources, operation, finance, strategy and accounting. Especially, this knowledge must be updated to fit with changing trends in the world. In order to do this, learners should be good at English to read text books from the US or Europe were many talented mangers were born. In Vietnam, students should choose the cooperation program and now is the recruiting season of cooperation program between Duy Tan university and Penn State (US). In this program, students don’t only have chance to learn the newest management methods but also learning methods to update knowledge continuously after graduating.
Beside knowledge, for CEO, skills are also very important because CEO job is not only scientific but also art. And the most critical skills are communication, leadership and management. In order to get these skills, students should examine the curriculums, teaching methods and activities of schools. At Duy Tan university, students who major in Business Administration have chance to develop management skills through some subjects such as Leadership and Negotiation. In addition, teaching methods of these subjects are very flexible through teamwork, team project in which after each course students can make presentation to demonstrate their ideas, they also practice communication skill in this activity. Beside, they also attend many seminars to learn experience from successful CEO.
In general, if students want to become CEOs of large organization, from now when choose schools, they should examine carefully the curriculum which schools could help them get these knowledge and skills.
