THE IMPACTS OF TECHNOLOGY ON STUDENTS SKILLS (PART 2)
Some factors affecting the students skills are:
Positive attitude
A positive attitude is defined as a personal characteristic that enables an individual to approach different situations of life from a positive angle (Mohanty, 2009). A positive attitude is a critical component of optimism, better health (Chundawat, 2018) so it lets students relax, remember, focus, absorb information, and helps learners maintain skills after classroom instruction is over. A positive attitude is also affected by technology, for example, Internet shoppers have a more positive attitude toward advertising and direct marketing than non-Internet ones do (Donthu et al., 1999) or techers use instruction aids such as power point, video could make students more interested and involved in class activities (Shettigar et al., 2014).
Responsibility
In education, responsible students exhibit some behaviors such as finishing the assignments on time, utilizing the school’s resources and asking help when needed, demonstrating integrity and honesty, etc. Online learning could provide wide-mass education for everyone and lead people to learn individually and let the responsibility of learning to the people (Isman, 2004).
Teamwork
Teamwork is the willingness of a group to work together to achieve common goals (Rehin, 2015). The main benefit of using technology with teamwork is to allow separate people with different schedules and locations to work together effectively by using email, instant messaging, e-calendars, webinars, and other technologies. Thus technology development, mobile technology has the potential to significantly improve teamwork (Martin et al., 2019) through some components such as trust, communications, leadership, goals, and technologies
Work ethics
Work ethics refers to complete and relentless devotion to one’s economic role (Lessnoff, 1994). Current conceptualizations tend to view work ethic as an attitudinal construct pertains to work-related values (Porter, 2010). In education, a strong work ethic is an important part of achieving success. However, technology also encourages dishonest reporting because of the lack of social interface resulting from the adoption of technology dampens ethical considerations when reporting (LaMothe et al., 2020). On the other hand, the application of technology especially AI (Artificial Intelligence) also raises some important ethical and social issues, including privacy problems (Hoeschl et al., 2017)
